Training Log Training Weeks Commencing 18th & 25th January

The snow is back and with it my update from the last 2 weeks....

Training Week Commencing 25th January

Monday – 10miles including 5x1200m with 400m jog recovery.
3:44, 3:42, 3:41, 3:42, 3:40 Really good times, feeling fresh and good – the break obviously benefitting me tonight.

Tuesday
Am – 6miles 46mins feeling generally rough this morning and last night's Burns Supper sitting heavy
Pm -6miles 44mins had leftover Haggis etc. For lunch and now that was making me feel not good for the run....

Wednesday – 12miles including 10mile tempo in 54:43 around Hazlehead area and cycle route along Queens Road. Overall splits within schedule but a couple slipped bad and affected overall time, strong at the end though. Feeling good tonight but windy and some undulating bits which affected the splits – had to stop for two toilet pit stops at 5 and 6.5 miles though!
Splits – 5:49, 5:17, 5:29, 6:01, 5:25, 5:13, 5:10, 5:36, 5:12, 5:27 – 1st 5mile in 28:03, 2nd 5mile in 26:40

Thursday
Am – 6miles 43mins round Torry
Pm – 6miles 44mins on treadmill, absolutely goosed, yesterday's session well and truly caught up with me this evening. Went to the gym as wanted to go to sauna afterwards.

Friday – Planned Rest Day

Saturday – 14miles 1hour 36mins in the snow. Not too quick today as heavy snow so you couldn't really get going at any kind of speed.

Sunday – Easy 9miles 64mins, round the headland and coastal areas having great fun going through unspoilt areas of snow although disappearing in to drifts up to my knees at time – really enjoyed this run and feeling great which was nice considering how I felt on Thursday

Weekly Total = 69miles. A good week with the easy week definitely having benefits. Very happy with the track session and the tempo although would have preferred the latter without the wind to try and get the first half better. Really suffered from Wednesday's effort though leaving me really tired for a couple of days. Snow is back which was fun but will probably mean track closed tomorrow so another week of fudging sessions together ahead.


Training Week Commencing 18th January

Monday – 8.5miles including 6x800m @ 5km pace with 2min recovery. Hard and tired – this is why the long run should have been on the Saturday! 2:25, 2:25, 2:25, 2:24, 2:24, 2:24. Track a little slippy tonight which probably didn't help either.

Tuesday
Am – 6miles 44mins new Torry route, legs feeling pretty rough
Pm - 6miles 43mins feeling pretty dead

Wednesday – 10miles including 8mile tempo in 43:30 along Deeside Line. Did this in the morning and it was a hard struggle a windy so not the best so I cut it back at 8. However, the latter miles did seem better although it was getting progressively harder.
5:36, 5:30, 5:22, 5:38, 5:26, 5:03 (mile split maybe slightly out!), 5:29, 5:23

Thursday to Sunday – All Rest Days as part of my easy week!

Weekly Total = 30.5miles. Easy week as planned as away for most of the week – think I needed it after 6 weeks averaging 70mpw and then this week's sessions being a tired struggle (although also due to the fiddling with the days and times of training).
